An Introduction to our Partners
The EMPOWER consortium is made up of research partners, municipalities and network leaders, domain experts, industrial and supplier partners, corporate third-parties and follower cities from across Europe and beyond into Turkey and Kenya who are all interested in effecting behavioural change to reduce the use of conventionally fuelled vehicles in our cities.
The consortium sets out to create new knowledge, harness enabling technologies, understand energy challenges, implement trials and evaluation, adapt business models and initiate ambitious roll out. The consortium is lead by the Institute of Transport Studies at the University of Leeds which has a solid track record in incentive design, Living Lab experiments and evaluation of social media based schemes. VIKTORIA SWEDISH ICT is an expert in business schemes for new mobility services and Living Lab implementations. Universiteit TWENTE brings skills in monitoring, evaluation and Living Lab experimentation, whilst TNO is an independent research organisation and leader in the domain of modelling behaviour. The ENSCHEDE municipality will be running a Living Lab and developing impact with other municipalities, IMTECH specialises in the provision of traffic and transport information, and SME specialists, MOBIDOT and Pocketweb, influence personal mobility behaviour through the Smartphone. Evaluation of the EMPOWER services will be led by the WUPPERTAL INSTITUT whilst FV-HELSINKI bring their expertise in introducing innovative and ‘smart’ services for their Living Lab. UNHabitat and EMBARQ-TR have dissemination roles in EMPOWER, completing the formal consortium.
