EMPOWER at UNECE in Geneva

Giuseppe Liguori from the EMPOWER project’s Take-Up City in Bologna recently presented at the UNECE’S annual PEP Symposium in Geneva, Switzerland. The topic of the Symposium was “Technologies and policies for improving efficiency and managing green and healthy mobility” and  focused on Goal 2 of the Paris Declaration: “to manage sustainable mobility and promote a more efficient transport system”.

The Symposium identified integrated policies in transport, health and the environment that ensure affordable and accessible mobility for all groups of society by using — in addition to and/or in place of adequate infrastructures — intelligent transport systems, information and communication technologies, and smart management and incentive systems.

Giuseppe spoke about the successful Bella Mossa campaign, which received funding from the EMPOWER project. During the Bella Mossa campaign, behaviour change was encouraged and promoted by awarding prizes for virtuous behaviours, instead of punishments for bad (and polluting) behaviours. Giuseppe spoke about how gamification and nudging can be used to encourage more sustainable and healthy behaviours for daily journeys. To find out more about the Bologna Take-Up City, click here.
